WE vs WS

BATTLE REPORT

White Scars ( Sigis ) vs. Worldeaters ( Jas )
Army Build: 1000 pts.
Mission: Capture and Control...the center
Result: Draw

Special mention to DPaul from the south who graced the game.

" Blind Fury"

Sigis was happy with the support the guys had given for the supplying the terrains for the up coming tourney so I let him had his hand on the table and threw them in the random way.
The 4x4 table was actually crowded with the terrains. LOL.
We started of with the first turns chasing each other and avoiding the terrains for our vehicles. Until at the third turn our forces finally engaged in a short firefight and a round of blurry melee. I still not over with my games last saturday so I bent my rage at Sigis's SMBikers like a mad man.
In the end I managed to wipeout his forces and manage to lose some men which made my day. But was so blood crazed I forgot the objective at hand.
Sigis was laughing to see how blind I was for blood that day.
A few more tweak at my army and more game I'll get the hang of it and prove that I'm worthy of Khorne's Blessing.

Warhammer 40K Graphic Novels

A recent discovery of mine... Warhammer 40K graphic novels by Boom! Studios (of course, licensed by GW). Excuse to anyone there for my giddyness, if this is already old news to you.

Above are covers of the current in print collections, which are also available in single comic book issues. I have viewed the previews, art looks good.

I will be contacting my friendly neighborhood comic book shop and check if I can get these... will post updates here.

Update#1, May 15, 2009 - Was able to get myself a copy of Exterminatus just an hour ago. The art (hand drawn like other comics), nice quality paper, coloured, story looks ok as well per my quickie browse :P Printed price is $18, was able to get my copy for about 600 pesos (sale in Galleria). For now I can say that the quality would probably be consistent for the other books, also a must have for 40K fans... I will definitely place an order for the rest soon.

Bloody Blood Ravens

Battle Report

April 28, 2009
Blood Ravens (Sigis) vs. Worldeaters (Jas)
Army Build: 1000points
Mission: Annihilation
Deployment: Dawn of War
Results: Kill points 1-5 Jas Wins

“ Blood( Ravens) for the Blood God!!!”

Jas has initiative. Sigis patiently waited for the enemy from the outpost on first two turns. At turn three, the Rhinos move in popping out smoke to obscure any firing from the Blood Ravens which eventually broke cover for their initial strike. Melta shots at the rhinos and Daemon Prince were a drag for Sigis. No hits and one glancing hit ignored. (Praise be Khorne!) Berserkers began to disembark from their transport. Havoc launchers firing but the Blood Raven Bikers were fast. Raptors manages to tie one squad and wiped them out. The Daemon Prince smite aside an Attack Bike. Sigis on his turn came the Epistolary Librarian and cast Force Dome but failed and opt to use Avenger power to kill 3 Berserkers with the flanking bike squadd contributing another kill. The Raptors were gunned down to a man. The Daemon Prince took a shot from the Attack Bike and was wounded. In assault Librarian felled Berserkers but was crushed by the Skull Champion’s Power Fist. At the run of the last turn the Khorne Army were roaring victoriously Sigis tried to blast the Rhino with the lone Skull Champion but failed. Nice game bro.

Blood Ravens (Sigis) vs Lamenters (Jas)
Army Build: 1000 points
Mission: Sieze Ground (3Objectives)
Deployment: Pitched Battle
Results: 0-1 Sigis Wins

“ Battle Brothers! Test your might! “

First turn Sigis cast Force Dome and Blood Raven Bikers roared their engines with guns ready. The Attack bike punched a hole on the lone Rhino blasting it to smithereens and Jas failed most of his saves for the passengers leaving only shaky Marines (Crap!). and was felled by bolter fire from the Bike Squad not far behind (Double Crap!!!). He peppered the Scouts in the cover of the ruined walls killing three. Jas Lamenter Librarian cast Force Dome on his Sternguards answered back with a hail of bolter, missle launcher and lascannon from the Sternguards and Scout team. The 10 man marine squad quickly engage the bike squad at left. In the Assualt phases Sigis got the upper hand with the speed and with the Hit and Run tactics which was down right irritating since the enemy can be shot at on the next turn. The Blood Raven Commander engaged the Librarian (which failed to cast his Force Dome) in close combat as if declaring a challenge to a duel. The Librarian fell. On the 4th turn there were few Lamenters in the table too weak and far from any objective. This game goes to Sigis. A fast victory!

TAU vs WE Battle Report

BATTLE REPORT
April 1, 2009
Tau Gunline Army ( Sigis ) vs. WorldEaters ( Jas )
Army Build: 2000 points
Mission: Seize Ground - 3 Objectives
Deployment: Spearhead

Result: 2-0 Jas Wins

" Baptism of Blood"

Sigis's forces were all bunched up to support each other and opt not to move from chosen battleline.

Instead they waited patiently for the Khorne forces to enter their kill zone of their guns.
Jas on the otherhand, who's new to handling such army, strode forward and popping smoke and was eager to engage the Tau.
Like the Eldar that he was he utilized every available guns in the guise of the Chaos Marine Squad, and Defiler in his army and started picking on targets and fell a few. Sigis wouldn't give quarter to have Jas's debut a win.
With his Drone Squads he managed to almost wiped out the Raptor Squad with them ( such a drag for Jas ) leaving only the Aspiring Champion who stubbornly refuses to retreat.
Sigis managed to wound Kharn and the Daemon Prince with the pesky little things as well.
Kharn disposed of the bugs in one clean sweep but hid throughout the game from fire. He failed to put halt the advance due to the unlucky rolls with his Broadsides in the first few turns.
Jas was having the itch and was worrying that his Berserkers might not get grips with the enemy in CQB with all the Taus arsenal.
Sigis was practically letting all kinds of shots form lasers to missiles at all sides.
One lucky shot Jas's Land Raider and Rhinos will bog down.
As predicted in the 4th turn all transport jammed at the front door of the Tau battleline.
Few Berserkers took shots and run for cover of the wrecks to pervent further losses. Jas's Daemon Prince and Aspiring Champion flew out from cover and led the charge massacrering the Kroots to a man.
In the last remaining turn the Berserkers followed and broke into the heart of the Tau and engaged the Ethereal and his Bodyguards but failed to butcher them.
The Prince and Champion tag team further wiped out another Kroot squad leaving Sigis battered and weak to contest any objective.
It was a nice game. Jas was happy and was lured to the dark whispers of Chaos. Kharn didn't get much action the next time Jas would surely think for a way to get his hand bloody.

Session ends 8:00pm

keeping it simple

Just to keep everything simple for the pre-GT:

300php registration fee.

Each game will be for 1.5 hours except for game 1 which will run for only 45 minutes.

5th edition rules will be in play.

1000 points army lists from the latest codex books will only be used.

All games will be played on 4x4 tables using the Swiss System.

Since it’s a pre-GT, we will be allowing non-painted models/armies as some players are still in the process of building, painting their armies for the up coming GT. Players who did not paint their own army will also be allowed but, we will ask you to be honest. Players may play with fully painted, partially painted, or non-painted army and primed (for non-painted and partially painted armies, do not expect to win best army appearance award and best over-all).

Honesty

We want people to come along to the pre-Grand Tournament to have a great time immersing themselves in our geeky hobby. We want the games to be challenging, the toy soldiers to look cool, and the company of fellow hobbyists to be stimulating. Along the way we’ll present some awards to people who we recognize as “champions of the hobby”. We don’t mind if you bring an army that someone else painted (either borrowing one from a buddy or paying a painting service to paint it for you), that’s a decision you make. We will ask each competitor at each event if they painted their army themselves, and we expect honest answers. Those who did not paint their army themselves are ineligible for the Best Overall and Best Army Appearance awards, but may still quite happily walk away with any of the Best General or Best Sportsmanship awards.Although it might be tempting for some to be less than honest with us, we remind these people that the information age is truly upon us and, if you have lied, the online community will let us know very quickly that this is the case and we will investigate the claims. Those competitors who are “found out” will have their title stripped and we expect the online community will do a pretty good job of sullying their reputation. Please be honest with us. There is no benefit in not being honest.

It’s going to be composed of 3 games, 3 random missions, 1 Champion.

Judges and their Rulings

Judges are responsible for the adjudication of rules, and insuring the safety of the participants. This responsibility means that a judge’s ruling, decision, or safety warning is final.
Participants are advised that the decisions of the Judges will apply to them from the moment that they enter the event.
Judges will not entertain any discussion once they have made a decision.
This includes safety warnings, rules adjudications, Army Appearance points, Sportsmanship points, and Battle Points.
Judges will post current Battle Point Totals with each new round of table assignments.
If participants find that the Battle Points posted do not match with what they believe they have earned then they should address the possible discrepancy with the Judges at the head table.

Number of Games

Competitors will play three (3) games.
Each game will always be against an opponent you have not previously played at that event.
You are expected to be at your table around 10 minutes prior to the posted start time.
This is time for introductions, setting terrain, exchanging army lists, and clarifying any issues. You will have 1.5 hours for each game.
This Game Time is for deployment of troops and playing the game.

How Pairings Work

For the first round you will be randomly assigned to a table and opponent.
For subsequent rounds we will use the system known as the Swiss System, where players face off against those with relatively similar scores (based on Battle Points only)

Timing

Competitors are expected to be at their assigned tables before the designated start time of the round (we expect 10 minutes before).
If your opponent does not arrive within 15 minutes of the start time for the game, then they will have been considered to have conceded the game.
Do NOT be late!

Tables and Terrain

All games for Warhammer 40,000 will be played on 4’ by 4’ tables.
Each table will contain sufficient scenery for a competitive game.

Filling out your Results Sheets

Each Tournament Packet will contain three (3) Game Results Sheets, one of which needs to be filled out swiftly on the completion of each game.
Once you have finished your game and filled out the sheet you and your opponent together must bring it to the Head Judges table where the results will then be entered into the Tournament database.
It is important that you fill in the information as quickly and accurately as possible; this will decide your ranking and ultimately the winner of the Tournament.
This will then generate the new pairing for the next round.

Army lists Allowed

We are allowing those army lists that have an officially printed Codex.
You are required to bring at least two copies of your army list to the Tournament.
When you register you must hand over a copy of your army list to the Judges who will check it over the course of the tournament.

This is considered an “open” tournament, where you are expected to show your army list to your opponent prior to the game and answer any reasonable questions about it.

In addition, we have a standing rule: If a new edition of a Codex is released less than 30 days prior to the event we are running, then the previous edition will be used. This is to give everyone a chance to read the new list and understand the way it now affects the game at large.

Other Important Things to Note!

Acceptable and Unacceptable Behavior

This one is fairly simple.
Acceptable behavior is that which you could expect to be comfortable with in regular, everyday life.
Unacceptable behavior can include, but is not limited to, physical abuse, verbal abuse, drunkenness, and other behaviors deemed unacceptable by Judges at the event.
Be aware that, depending on the situation, unacceptable behavior may result in your ejection from the event.

Painting & Modeling Rules

As everyone who is competing at a Tournament has put a great deal of time and effort into their army it is only reasonable to expect that their opponents have done the same.

As the intent of the event is for everyone involved to have a fun, nerdy weekend pushing cool toy soldiers about over cool terrain against other enthusiastic hobbyists, anyone can field an army they did not paint themselves.

Conversions, WYSIWYG, and “Counts As”

Non-Citadel miniatures are not allowed and will be removed.
Conversions must begin as Citadel miniatures and contain a majority of Citadel components. They must be of the appropriate type for the troops they represent and comply with the “Counts As” rule below.

ForgeWorld miniatures may be used to represent models or options from the Codexes allowed.

The army must be WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get).
This means that weapons, armor options, and upgrades chosen from the army list must be shown on characters and a majority of the models in a unit or squad.
Should you wish to field certain models in your army that “count as” something different in your list than the model that was originally intended you need to follow these basic rules: the models must be roughly the same size as those you are substituting them for (eg. you could not use Imperial Guard Ogryn to represent Imperial Guard Conscripts), you must be consistent throughout your army (eg. if both of your Space Marine Dreadnoughts have twin-linked heavy bolters - an option no longer allowed - you could field them both as assault cannons, but not one of them as an assault cannon and the other as twin-linked lascannons), and finally you must be very clear with your opponent prior to the game, going over anything that may cause confusion. It may be appropriate to create a “cheat sheet” for your opponent that has pictures of the units accompanied by a description of the units and it’s equipment.

Scratch Building

Models may be scratch built for purposes of representing models that do not have a current (or previous edition) model.
If the scratch build is for a figure then the figure must follow the guidelines laid out for conversions.
If the model is a vehicle then participants will be allowed to scratch build the vehicle.
A scratch built vehicle will either be a heavily modified current model, or a model that is built from the ground up.
The scratch built model must represent the vehicle with all options.
Judges will be the ultimate authority if a scratch build will be usable.

Warhammer 40,000 Rules

All will use the 5th Edition Rules for Warhammer 40,000.

No more than 1,000 points may be spent on the creation of your army.

Armies must follow all restrictions on army selection from their own Codex.

Only the main army list be used for the army in question.

No appendix lists are permitted.

Special Characters are permitted, subject to the normal restrictions for that character in the Codex.

Only armies from the following Codexes may be taken:

• Codex: Space Marines
• Codex: Space Wolves
• Codex: Black Templars
• Codex: Dark Angels
• Codex: Blood Angels - White Dwarf 329-330
• Codex: Imperial Guard
• Codex: Daemonhunters
• Codex: Witch Hunters
•Codex: Eldar
• Codex: Dark Eldar
• Codex: Orks
• Codex: Necrons
• Codex: Tau Empire
• Codex: Tyranids
• Codex: Chaos Space Marines
• Codex: Chaos Daemons

These army lists will be used with the following addendums:

Space Marines

• Be aware that clarifications have been issued explaining how to use Codex: Space Wolves in conjunction with Codex: Space Marines.

These clarifications apply.

• Space Marine armies may use Inquisitorial allies as defined in Codex: Daemonhunters or Codex: Witch HuntersImperial Guard

• Doctrines may be used; if using a regiment with doctrines defined in the Codex then those doctrines must be used.

• Imperial Guard armies may use Inquisitorial allies as defined in Codex: Daemonhunters or Codex: Witch HuntersForces of the Inquisition

• Inquisitorial armies may take Space Marine or Imperial Guard allies as defined in Codex: Daemonhunters or Codex: Witch Hunters

Scoring Introduction

We have made some changes that we hope will more adequately meet the expectations of the majority.

Battle Points Scoring

Victory on the battlefield is the easiest thing to award points for, as the results are indisputable. Points will be awarded on a sliding scale determined by the result of each battle.
Typically the margin of victory creates a variety of "results".

Maximum Battle Points will be 20 points per game for a total of 60 points.
Loose = 10
Draw = 15
Win = 20

Sportsmanship Scoring

We think it encapsulates the spirit of things and helps clarify the type of experience we want people to have.
The points break down as follows:

Sportsmanship Checklist

Compulsory Trappings

These are the items an opponent can reasonably expect you to be prepared with, including being on time and playing promptly.

o Did your opponent show up on time (or early)? 1 Point
o Did your opponent have all the materials they needed to play (dice, templates, army list, rules for their army, rules for the game)? 1 Point
o Did your opponent play their turns in a reasonable amount of time (taking in account time to plan strategy, and includes playing throughout all the phases)? 1 Point

Game Play

These items include courses of action your opponent took during the game or in deciding what to field in their army.

o Did your opponent measure accurately for both model moves and shooting distances? 1 Point
o Did your opponent solve rules disputes by showing you the relevant passages in their rulebook (or, if that could not be found or remained confusing, was amicable about bringing over a Rules Judge)? 1 Point
o Was your opponent’s army easy to understand with clear conversions or completely WYSWIG? 1 Point
o Do you think your opponent built an army based on the theme of the relevant gaming universe and supplied background for that army (as opposed to a force built purely for winning with little or no regard to that army’s established background)? 1 Point

Behaviors

These items include basic social skills.o Was your opponent of good humor and amicable when not concentrating on strategy or planning out moves (this does not mean they put on a one man circus for you, but rather was not angry/grumbling/complaining/obtuse during your game)? 1 Point
o Was your opponent helpful in explaining correct rules, explaining how their army works? 1 Point
o Win or lose, was this person the type of opponent you look forward to playing again? 1 Point

This will mean that players can earn up to 10 sportsmanship points per game for a maximum total of 50 points.

You will notice that the behaviors expected by competitors are covered in these questions.
While you won’t love every game you play (or every opponent) there is a standard level you can reasonably expect to provide you with a positive overall experience.

Army Appearance Scoring

This is to ensure that well-painted armies are not penalized by a lack of conversions, and those well-converted (but perhaps averagely painted) armies are still in the hunt.

Army Appearance ChecklistPainting (worth up to 35 points)

o Based/Detailed: Bases have basing materials (flock/sand/tiles) or details painted on them. 1 Point
o Extra Basing: The bases have multiple basing materials (rocks/grass), extra details painted on them (cracks in tiles), or if extra basing is inappropriate, basing is done very well (eg. rolling desert dunes). 1 Point

PointsConversions (Worth up to 4 points)

Check One Box for conversions that are appropriate and well executed.
o Minimal: The army has some elementary conversions (head and weapon swaps, arm rotations) or a couple interesting swaps. 1 Point
o Minor: Units have multi-kit conversions including head and weapon swaps. This is for more than a few models such as a unit. 2 Points
o Major: The army has some difficult conversions that use things such as putty, plastic card, drilling, sawing, minor sculpts, etc.
This could also apply to the entire army having very well done multi-kit conversions (see above) 3 Points
o Extreme: The army has some extreme conversions, which could be: a scratch built conversion or sculpt of an entire model, a large amount of models with difficult conversions (see above), or the entire army is extremely converted 4 Points

Other (worth up to 2 points)
Check all that apply to bulk (80%+) of army.

o Display Base: Basic based & highlighted or detailed display base. 1 Point
o Something Special: There is something above and beyond about a model’s painting, the display base, a conversion, or the basing (eg. movement trays are based/highlighted). 1 Point

As you can see, there are a lot of aspects to cover.
We’re confident that by publishing this checklist we can expect to see a great level of Army Appearance.
Competitors can earn up to 40 points for the Army Appearance category.

HGR Journal Entry No. 093 – Our Growing Brood

Date: April 18, 2009
Attendance: Deadeye, Kuneho, George, Mickie, Matthew, Martie, Lucas, Ebon, Kyuzo, Battle Captain, Henri, JB with special appearance from Balian, Salubri, Marty and Patrick

Kuneho showed up intent on having a game after a long absence. Results of last Session:

Game 1- Deadeye (SM-Ultramarines) Vs Kuneho (Tyranids-Hive Fleet Conqueror)
Mission: 2000pts Annihilation
Deployment: Spearhead
Result: Kuneho wins Via Tap-out 5th turn

As I won the dice off to who goes first I took the chance and deployed all my nasty fire power up front this was my list

HQ
2 Space Marine Captains – on Bike, Relic Blade
Elite
6 Assault terminators – TH/SS, Lightning Claws
In Landraider – Multimelta
Troops
2 Tactical Squads – Powerfist, Meltagun, Missile launcher, in Rhino
1 Tactical Squad – Power weapon, Meltagun, Plasma Cannon
Fast Attack
2 Landspeeder – Heavy Bolter, Typhoon Pattern
Heavy Support
2 Vindicators – Terrain Modifier

Kuneho’s List (as I remember)

HQ
1 Hive Tyrant with 3 Tyrant guards
1 Broodlord
Elites
1 Lictor
2 DakkaFex
Troops
6 Genestealer Broods – 12 each
32 Gaunts
1 Ripper Swarm – 10?
Heavy Support
2 Carnifex – Barb Strangler Venom Cannon

Having two vindicators in the game meant I had two pie plates dropping down to purify and cleanse the enemy ranks, but as the game progressed I saw all of my vehicles except my Landraider was having a hard time evading sporadic fire even though I had lots of 4+ cover saves, the straw that broke the bike’s suspension was the destruction of my two vindicators and an overwhelming presence of 6 broods of 12 Genestealers, a tactical withdraw sounded good for me! Great game Ian!

Game 2 – Martie (Tau) Vs JB (Deathwing)
Mission: 700pts Annihilation
Deployment: Spearhead
Result: Martie wins Via Wipeout

Game 3 – Matthew (Eldar) Vs Lucas (Dark Eldar)
Mission: 1500pts Seize Ground
Deployment: Spearhead
Result: Draw 1-1

Game 4- Battle Captain (SM-Luna Wolves) Vs Henri (SW-Iron Wolves)
Mission: 2000pts Capture And Control
Deployment: Spearhead
Result: Battle Captain Wins 1-0

Game 5 – Martie (Tau) Vs JB (Deathwing)
Mission: 700pts Seize Ground
Deployment: Pitch Battle
Result: Martie wins Via Wipeout

Game 6 – George (SM-Imperial Fist W/ Pedro Cantor) Vs Lucas (Dark Eldar)
Mission: 1500pts Annihilation
Deployment: Pitched Battle
Result: George Wins

Game 7 – Mickie (Chaos Daemons) Vs Ebon (Orks)
Mission: 2000pts Seize Ground
Deployment: Dawn of War
Result: Mickie wins Via Wipeout

Game 8 – Matthew (Eldar) Vs Lucas (Dark Eldar)
Mission: 1000pts Seize Ground
Deployment: Spearhead
Result: Draw

Game 9 – Deadeye (SM-Ultramarines) Vs George (SM-Imperial Fist W/ Pedro Cantor)
Mission: 1750pts Capture and Control
Deployment: Dawn of War
Result: Deadeye Wins 1-0 Counters; Tap-out 4th Turn

As there was a point reduction my list became

HQ
1 Space marine Captain – Bike, relic blade, hellfire rounds, artificer armor
Elite
6 Assault terminators – TH/SS, Lightning Claws
In Landraider – Multimelta
Troops
2 Tactical Squads – Powerfist, Meltagun, Missile launcher, in Rhino w/ Extra Armor
1 Tactical Squad – Power weapon, Meltagun, Plasma Cannon
Heavy Support
2 Vindicators – Terrain Modifier

George’s List was (As I remember)

HQ
Pedro Cantor
Space marine Chapter Master – power weapon
Elite
Dreadnought – multimelta, dreadnought close combat weapon
2 Tactical Terminators: 10 Terminators each – Assault Cannon, Cyclone Missile launchers, Chainfist
Troops
2 Tactical Squads – Flamers, Missile launcher, Power Weapon

George went first deploying his tactical marines on the very edge of his deployment at the center of the table. I deployed my 3rd tactical squad (Rhino less) thru combat Squads placing them near my counter another tactical squad in Rhino facing his tactical squad guarding his objective.

First turns came, George marching in his Dreadnought and two full squads of terminators glistening with weapons of mass carnage and death with Pedro cantor no less. A light From the Sky signaled the end as his Chapter Master called in an Orbital Strike luckily it deviated placing a crater near nowhere. I rolled in the rest of the army, Vindicators positioning to decimate his Tactical squads, Landraider waiting for a hole in the ranks to blunder into, another rhino with a full squad. My Chapter Answered back with my own Orbital Strike, but again placing a large crater nowhere! My Vindicators made Short work of the tactical marines in front after two thunderous shots only 2 survived the Chapter Master and the Sergeant. Space marine with Plasma Cannon was taking pot shots at terminators Vaporizing 2 in the process not enough to force him a morale test.

2nd turn More marching on George side than firing. I rushed my Rhino forward up the hill, head long into his battle lines, popping smoke of course. More Decimating shots from my Vindis to little or no effect due to cover.

3rd turn George marched his Terminators again then ran them to get into the fray faster, he also moved his untouched 10 tactical marines up the hill to assault my rushing rhino, good thing the Emperor was with me, for the Rhinos was just shaken, Space marine Chapter Master and Sergeant hurriedly ran for cover. I positioned my Emperor Protects Rhino back down the hill disembarking the squad, and drove my Emperor Doesn’t Favor You Rhino just at the tip of the hill, immobilizing it with a 1, disembarking a squad. Also walking my Combat squad up the hill for some HTH action. Rushed my Landraider up the center of the board disembarking my Assault terminators within assault range of the 10 man terminator squad. My Landraider took a multimelta shot against the dreadnought with no effect. More shots came from my Vindicators Stunning his Dreadnought while dotting the landscape of some craters. My 2 tactical squads made quick work of his tactical squad, like rain, bullets from bolters, energy weapons and melta weapons reduced the 10 man squad to a man, my combat squad finished it with a melta shot, reducing the sergeant to a pile of slag!

Assault Phase: My Assault Terminators Assaults the Terminator Squad and clipping the sergeant and Chapter Master. Pedro Cantor contributed to the fight via his Inspiring Aura giving my opponent 1+ attacks. The chapter Master Swung first killing 1 of my Lightning claw terminator; my 2 terminators with Lightning claw strikes back, killing 3-4? Terminators, Initiative 1 came up and thunder hammers and powerfist exchanged blows, I won combat but Pedro Cantor meddled again for He made the squads stubborn, luckily(or Unluckily) George rolled 11 on both his terminators and Chapter master’s morale check that made them ran, letting me consolidate near my Landraider.

4th Turn. As George saw his troop choices decimated he opted for the draw, walking his terminators and launching a hail of bolter fire my way. I answered back with my Vindicators and Plasma Cannon, immobilizing his Dreadnought and obliterating some of his termies but first hiding my marines to the cover of their respective Rhino’s. The lone marine with a melta weapon upon witnessing the death of his combat squad marched forward, opened fired with his weapon and proceeded to assault the terminators, alas he will be missed!(Not for his stupidity but for Gallantry against insurmountable odds).

5th turn. George taps out, a tactical withdraw was the best recourse. Great game George!

Game 10 – Kyuzo (CSM-Black Legion) Vs Henri(SW-Iron Wolves)
Mission: 1000pts Capture and Control
Deployment: Spearhead
Result: Draw! Both objectives contested

This is supposed to be a rematch of similar sized armies Kyuzo and Henri fielded last time at the Battle Bunker, with a similar result on a different Mission. Maybe we should play out the other mission and deployment (Seize Ground, Dawn of War) for a tiebreak? LOL.

Game 11 – Battle Captain (SM-Luna Wolves) Vs Lucas(Dark Eldar)
Mission: 1000pts Seize Ground - 4 Counters
Deployment: Pitched Battle
Result: Battle Captain wins 2-0 1-contested

Whoa! – That was a long Battle Report; I’m expecting all HGR Battle Reports will now be this long or longer still! Thanks and keep coming back Guys!

Early in the game day, we were greeted by Balian, checking up on the HGR action.
As another Mini GT grew near, the Overall best of the last years HGR Tourney (Marty) came and saw the Brood was growing with new players. Patrick also checked the games. He’ll be back next week and Marty too to participate in a little HGR gaming action.

Battle Bunker Results - April 14, 2009...

Attendance: Oberon, Kyuzo, Henri, Deadeye, BattleCaptain, Jake, Arvin, Pol, Kuneho, Sigismund, Plim

--------------

Game1 - Kyuzo(CSM-Black Legion) vs. Sigismund(SM-Blood Ravens)
Mission: 1000pt Annihilation
Deployment: Pitched Battle
Result: Romy Wins 7-1

Kyuzo's 1000pt List:

1 Daemon Prince of Slaanesh with Wings, Lash of Submission
9 Thousand Sons squad with Aspiring Sorceror w/Bolt of Change
7 Plague Marines squad with Plasma gun, Lascannon, Plague Champion w/Powerfist
1 Chaos Vindicator
1 Chaos Defiler

Sigismund's 1000pt List: (Sigis, insert list here)

Started trying play a Thousand Sons and Plague Marine squad to any of my lists lately to get a feel on how they play game-wise while I get some painting done. Sigismund went all shooty with lascannons, plasma guns, heavy bolters and missile launchers in a lot of combat squads, as well as a couple of multi-melta attack bikes. I tried to take the straight forward approach (aka, run/zoom forward and get into close combat) with Sigis pulling out all the stops and shooting with almost everything he's got including through windows in the hopes of taking down the Vindicator (only succeeding in destroying the demolisher cannon) while both his attack bikes went for the obvious target in the Defiler.

MVP honors should go to the Defiler, who was able to get into close combat with both attack bikes and wreak havoc along the Blood Ravens' battle line, while the Plague Marines took out the Librarian and a few combat squads from the other flank. Game ends on the 5th turn, with the killpoint score 7-1 in favor of the Black Legion.

--------------

Game2 - Deadeye(Tau) vs. BattleCaptain(CSM-Black Legion)
Mission: 1000pt Capture and Control
Deployment: Spearhead
Result: Draw!

--------------

Game3 - Kuneho(Tyranids-Hivefleet Conqueror) vs. Oberon(Sisters of Battle)
Mission: 1500pt Capture and Control
Deployment: Spearhead
Result: Kuneho Wins! 1-0 Oberon no more troops while Kuneho was reduced to 2 genestealer models to claim the objective.

--------------

Game4 - Kyuzo(CSM-Black Legion) vs. Henri(SW-Iron Wolves)
Mission: Seize Ground (3 counters)
Deployment: Pitched Battle
Result: Draw! 1-1 and 1 (to be) contested

Used the same list to go up against the vicious Iron Wolves (ok ba sa build-up Henri? hehehe...). Things were a bit tactical, particularly on the spacing of units so as to get a better chance on who will be able to charge who, plus the additional challenge that Henri kept most of his units inside their Rhinos so that my Lash wont be of much help to my tactics. Had no choice but to bust the Rhinos open with the Defiler or by close combat in the hopes of taking out Henri's troops.

With the night starting to drag for the onlookers (ie. the troops were getting thirsty... :P) Henri and I mutually agreed to call it a draw at the start of the 5th Turn with both sides claiming 1 objective each while the third one will most likely be contested. Good game man.

--------------

Most of the guys went on over to Baliwag for a couple of buckets to end the day (Epic FAIL!!! Bwahahaha!). Good gaming. Until the next Battle Bunker Session. Session ends 12:30am. :D

Battle Bunker Results - April 7, 2009...

Attendance: Oberon, Kyuzo, Henri

Game1: Kyuzo(CSM-Black Legion) vs. Henri(Space Wolves)
Mission: 1500pts Capture and Control
Deployment: Spearhead
Result: Henri Wins! One contested at Space Wolves Objective to none claiming CSM Objective

The 1500pt list I used:

2 Daemon Princes of Slaanesh with Wings, Lash of Submission
9 Thousand Sons squad with Aspiring Sorceror w/Bolt of Change, Rhino
7 Plague Marines squad with Plasma gun, Lascannon, Plague Champion w/Powerfist, Rhino
10 Chaos Space Marines with 2 Meltaguns, Aspiring Champion w/Powerfist, Rhino
10 Chaos Space Marines with Plasma gun, Lascannon, Aspiring Champion w/Power weapon+meltabomb, Rhino
1 Vindicator

The list Henri used: (Henri, insert list here. :P)

10 Blood Claws with 2Power Fist,1 meltagun on a Rhino 206pts
14 Blood Claws with a Rhino 3 Power Fist,1 Flamer 238pts
10 Grey Hunters with 1Power Fist, 1 power weapon, Plasma gun, bolters on a Rhino 249pts
10 Grey Hunters with 1Power Fist, 1 power weapon, Meltagun gun, bolters on a Rhino 251pts
1 Ven Dread AC+CCW/SB with EA 170pts
1 Dread AC+CCW/SB with EA 130pts
1 Wolf Priest power weapon, wolf tail necklace healing balms 135pts
5 man scouts meltagun, power weapon 96pts

Some highlights would probably be the fact that all of the tanks and vehicles destroyed were all destroyed in spectacular fashion (most rolled a 6 on armor penetration, with CSM and Space Wolf suffering quite a few casualties to "shrapnel"). Imagine mushroom cloud explosions with pieces of CSM Rhino or SW Dreadnought flying left and right. I also found new respect for Thousand Sons and Plague Marines despite their high points cost, enough for me to start painting a couple of these units for gaming. :D

Some relentless hand-to-hand combat from Space Wolf Bloodclaws and the later demise of both Daemon Princes tipped the balance in favor of the Sons of Russ. Kyuzo could only wish for a draw but game randomly ends on the fifth turn, resulting in Henri's first win over Kyuzo in quite a while. Good game Henri. Revenge will come swiftly, my Daemon Princes swear by it. ;)

Gaming ends with a bucket of beer over at Baliwag to cap off a tiring but fulfilling night of 40k gaming. Hoorah.
